Leonardo Da Vinci was an Italian polymath, having been a scientist, mathematician, engineer, inventor, anatomist, painter, sculptor, architect, botanist, musician, and writer. Leonardo has often been described as the archetype of the "Renaissance Man". He epitomized the humanist spirit of his age. I really enjoy how Leonardo combined an astute empirical mind with an extraordinary visual intelligence, and this can be readily seen in both in his scientific sketches and his art.
